• Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Instructing Exercise and Fitness

The aim of this Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing qualification is to train learners to a professionally competent level, enabling them to prescribe, plan and deliver safe and effective exercise programmes within a gym or health club environment as a Level 2 Fitness Instructor.

Experience of gym-based exercise, including free weights, is highly recommended.

The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary.

There is also an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 2.


• Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Leading Health Related Activities

The aim of this Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing qualification is to train learners to a professionally competent level, enabling them to prescribe, plan and deliver safe and effective exercise programmes within a gym or health club environment as a Level 2 Fitness Instructor.

There are no specific entry requirements.

Learners must achieve the three mandatory units (15 credits).

• Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Leisure Operations

This qualification is designed to provide leisure assistants, pool attendants and pool lifeguards with the essential knowledge and skills to work in customer facing roles within a leisure facility.

There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 2.

The learner must achieve 18 credits in total. This is made up from the 13 credits from the 6 mandatory units and a further 5 credits (minimum) from the optional units

• Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Community Health and Well Being

The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding to promote physical activity and healthy living within their communities.

There are no specific entry requirements.

Learners must complete the six mandatory units (15 credits) and any of the additional units if required.

• Active IQ Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment

This qualification is intended for those who assess skills, knowledge and occupational competence in the work environment

There are no specific entry requirements.

Learners must be 19+ and have occupational and technical competence in the area(s) that they wish to assess.

Successful achievement of both units (9 credits) must be achieved for the full qualification

• Active IQ Level 3 Award In Education and Training

This qualification provides learners with the knowledge and skills to be able to educate and train individuals and/or groups. This qualification allows learners to enter into the education sector. 

• Active IQ Level 3 Certificate In Leisure Management

This qualification is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills required to deal with the performance of other staff, the well-being and safety of customers, as well as the day-to day operation of a leisure facility.

There are no specific entry requirements.

The learner must complete all six units in the mandatory Group A, plus a minimum of two credits from any optional unit(s) (18 credits in total). 

• Active IQ Level 3 Certificate In Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport

The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to be able to support the delivery of low risk activities that contribute to a physical education and school sport programme through curriculum-based and/ or extra-curricular activities.

There are no specific entry requirements.

As this is a competency-based qualification, learners will need to be assessed in the workplace.

Learners must complete all eight mandatory units (28 credits).

• Active IQ Level 3 Diploma In Exercise Referral

Learners must hold one of the following:

• Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing.

• Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing.

• Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Group Training.

• Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training.

• Level 3 Diploma in Instructing Pilates Matwork.

• Active IQ Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training.

• Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Yoga.

Learners must achieve all six mandatory units (38 credits).

• Active IQ Level 3 Diploma In Fitness Instructing and Personal Training

This qualification provides the knowledge and skills to enable learners to prescribe, plan and deliver safe and effective exercise programmes and pursue a career in personal training.

Some experience of gym-based exercises, including free weights, is highly recommended.

The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary.

There is also an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 2.

Learners must achieve the ten mandatory units (52 credits).
