The purpose of this document is to provide learners and their support network with key information on remote learning.
Remote Learning occurs when the learner and instructor, or source of information, are separated by time and distance and therefore cannot meet in a traditional classroom setting. Also referred to as Distance Education, Virtual Instruction, or Remote Training.
WHY?
The aim of remote learning is to support learners to have access to learning opportunities to develop key knowledge and skills.
Remote education will be offered in all learning experiences - it will be stated in the curriculum and will form a key element of the overall education offer.
The key objectives of our remote education offer include:
To ensure learners are clear in the expectations of their learning programme
To support learner's personal growth and confidence with new and varied learning opportunities
Ensure that they can demonstrate the application of new knowledge or skills
To provide timely feedback on performance and how to progress
To promote online safety and secure use of technology.
WHEN? WHAT?
Step 1 Before enrolment
From January 2021 - All learners will be assessed on the capability to effectively access remote learning opportunities. This includes:
Technological device access (Work & Home)
Internet access (Work & Home)
Web-based application competence (Google applications, web-based applications)
Experience and expectation of learners of remote education
Specialist requirements for learner arrangements of equipment or support
A rationale will be included in the signed commitment statement completed prior to enrolment.
Where there are significant barriers to access to enrolment due to an assessment of remote education then alternative methods, courses or providers will be discussed and agreed with learners.
Step 2 On Programme
Elev8 Training uses several platforms to support remote education in different ways
these include; ad
Google classroom - Used for interaction with learning facilitators, course content and
assessment, communication and updating progress.
Moodle - This is an online e-learning platform which provides course content and
interactive resources
BKSB live - This is an online Maths and English e-learning and assessment platform.
Cirrus - This is an online knowledge-based assessment platform for the completion
of relevant mandatory assessments relating to vocational qualifications.
Secure access using a username and password is required for each platform.
All of these platforms can be accessed through the Elev8 Training Learner hub web page by clicking on the link below
At the end of a learning programme
All learners will continue to have access to their online learning accounts and google classroom after they have completed or left the course.
Access will only be removed if there is a breach of the code of conduct.
Timetables - All learners will agree their curriculum plan with the learning facilitator and this will be deliverable both person to person (P2P) and remotely. The exception will be where there is no Awarding body or EPAO relaxation that allows remorse learning or assessment (e.g., live observation).
HOW?
Access to e-learning platforms and relevant communication channels are available at all times.
Support with platform access is available at all times along with help for technical issues.
Access to direct communication with our learning facilitators and support are outlined in the Learner code of conduct and the compliments and complaints procedure.
All platforms are remotely accessed and available in the event of a lockdown or if students have to isolate.
Where students are unable to attend a live event, they should contact their learning facilitator. All learning events can be provided remotely.
Assessment
All assessments relating to the learner’s programme will follow the current guidelines provided by the relevant awarding organisation.
