Professional Conduct Charter

Introduction

In March 2022 - we consulted with all stakeholders regarding the necessary behaviours and attitudes that reflect professionalism -

We wanted to provide everyone currently engaged with the Apprenticeship programme to have the opportunity to influence the shared principles that support

high quality apprenticeship provision and more importantly to support individuals to become highly successful in their chosen profession

The 3 key areas identified across all stakeholders were:

1. Respect

2. Eagerness to Learn

3. Reliability

1. The principle of respect is to value ourselves and others and these principles, can be extended to property and ideas. We need to acknowledge these values and act as though we appreciate and understand them. We must treat others as we would expect to be treated ourselves.

2. The principle of having an Eagerness to learn is to show enthusiasm for new knowledge and skills. To be curious and to inquire about the thighs we need to know or in which we need to increase our expertise. We need to see learning as a key priority to self improvement and to accept responsibility for our own improvement.

3. The principle of reliability means that a person can be trusted to act with integrity. Being reliable helps to develop the trust of others and allows us to work as part of a team. It allows us to be an individual, but ensures that we help others to develop a professional relationship based on our behaviour

Code of conduct

This sets out the way in which professional conduct is to be identified across all areas of apprenticeship provision. It is a requirements of all stakeholder that they follow and ensure that these 3 key principles are upheld.

Misconduct process

It is expected that the code of conduct will provide sufficient guidance on the standards expected in each area of professional conduct. However, where professional standards fall the required level this process will be followed.

Documenting instances - Where tutors have evidence of misconduct - the Misconduct form should be completed at the first opportunity. Records of all misconduct will be stored until the completion of the apprenticeship. When misconduct is identified, it will be discussed with the tutors line manager.

Apprentices and employers will be notified of all misconduct

Interventions

Observation - Any minor misconduct will be discussed - and the tutor will observe behaviour of the apprentice over a number weeks.

Corrective action - Where required the tutor will inform the apprentice and employer of the incident and will provide a corrective plan of action (provided by email) - to support the apprentice to make up for any missed learning or assessments.

Intervention plan - Where misconduct is more serious - a meeting with the employer, apprentice and tutor will be arranged to discuss and agree an intervention plan to support.

Warning and termination

Where corrective action fails to resolve the issues, a warning will be issued - Where this happens a meeting involving the tutor, Elev8 line manager, employer representative and the apprentice will take place. Actions and time scales will be agreed.

Following a second warning a meeting will take place and a final intervention plan will be discussed and agreed - if the apprentice fails to reach the required standard the training agreement will be terminated and the apprenticeship will end.

Apprentices have the right to appeal any warnings that they feel have been given unfairly. They must provide a response in writing (by email) to Joe@elev8training.com - They must provide a reason for the appeal and any supporting evidence. All warning appeals will be responded to in writing within 5 working days.

If anyone feels that they have a complaint relating to how the matter has been handled, the complaints procedure must be followed.
